Being client centred as well as goal directed at times feels contradictory and can prove difficult to navigate, particularly when therapists are working with third party referral sources. However, this skill is imperative given that research demonstrates that effectively setting and meeting goals is a large contributor to what sets great therapists apart from good. Borrowing from the work of Len Sperry and his book “Highly Effective Therapy,” Dr. Carissa Muth will present key components to creating a case conceptualize, collaborative treatment goals and effective treatment plan to guide the therapeutic process. Stemming from her years of supervisory experience, Dr. Muth will use this 1- hour webinar to equip therapists to move their work from good to great by integrating a strength-based client led approach with evidenced based goal directed treatment.

Dr. Carissa Muth is a registered psychologist in Alberta and British Columbia and the Clinical Director at the Sunshine Coast Health Centre and Georgia Strait Women’s Clinic.  She holds Doctorate of Psychology, Master of Arts in Counselling, and Bachelor of Social Work degrees and ran a private practice in Alberta for the last ten years.
