Psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy is emerging as one of the most significant developments in modern mental-health treatment. As several psychedelic medicines move toward regulatory approval, clinicians are seeking clear, evidence-based guidance on how these substances work, their therapeutic potential, and how to navigate this rapidly evolving field.
This one-day online primer offers a comprehensive, research-informed introduction to psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy. Participants will explore the historical and Indigenous roots of psychedelic use; gain an understanding of commonly discussed substances such as psilocybin, LSD, ayahuasca, DMT, MDMA, and ketamine; review current evidence regarding clinical efficacy; and learn the core components of preparation, dosing sessions, and integration.
Led by Dr. Zach Walsh—one of Canada’s leading researchers and psychologists in the field—this workshop will clarify the legal, clinical, and ethical considerations relevant to practitioners. Attendees will learn how to discuss psychedelic use with clients, assess potential risks, and prepare for upcoming changes in therapeutic access and policy. This session is designed to strengthen clinical competence and confidence in an area quickly becoming central to contemporary mental-health practice.
Clinical Professionals: All mental health professionals including, but not limited to Clinical Counsellors, Psychologists, Psychotherapists, Social Workers, Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Hospice and Palliative Care Workers, School Counsellors, Youth Workers, Mental Health Workers, Addiction Specialists, Marital & Family Therapists, Speech Language Pathologists, Vocational Rehabilitation Consultants and all professionals looking to enhance their therapeutic skills.
