Common factor models of psychotherapy have long stressed the limited impact of specific interventions and instead cited research indicating the importance of the therapeutic relationship. Even those who advocate on behalf of specific treatment modalities acknowledge that built into every successful therapeutic intervention is an emphasis on the importance of the relationship with the care provider. Emerging from this understanding, Feedback Informed Treatment, developed by psychologist Scott Miller, utilizes objective and standardized measures to optimize the therapeutic relationship to improve therapeutic outcomes. In this 3-hour webinar, Dr. Carissa Muth will provide step by step instructions on how to implement FIT using the Outcome Rating Scales and Session Rating Scales tools developed by Miller and colleagues in order to improve the strength of the therapeutic relationship and leverage it to produce positive therapeutic outcomes.

  • Identify common factors contributing to therapeutic change
  • Administer the ORS/SRS and interpret results
  • Utilize ORS/SRS results to strengthen the therapeutic alliance and improve client outcomes
