Anxiety is at epidemic levels and is the most common mental health concern among children and teens. Anxiety is not something you outgrow, and early intervention is important to minimize later problems with depression and other social, emotional, behavioural, and health difficulties. Unfortunately, most kids go without effective support until they are teens, a time at which they are extremely susceptible for developing severe anxiety disorders. Since 70% of all mental health problems begin in childhood and adolescence, there is a clear need to support this population. Without knowing what to look for, many parents, teachers, and even professionals can easily miss when anxiety shows up and may even unwittingly make anxiety stronger.
It is essential that all adults first develop a thorough understanding of what is going on for children and teens in today’s world, the pressures they face, and what happens when the demands put on them outweigh their capacity to cope. Then, they can learn what is truly effective to support these kids and teens to build their capacity to manage anxiety.
Thankfully, anxiety is highly treatable. There are essential considerations for effective interventions that are not commonly known nor practiced but are easy to learn. This webinar is vital for anyone working with children and teens who experience anxiety. In this advanced workshop, clinicians, educators, and families will develop a deep understanding of anxiety from a transdiagnosis perspective. Special considerations are also given to our Generations Z and Alpha and the specific stressors they face that contribute to anxiety and emotional dysregulation. Participants will also learn effective tools and processes to help these populations manage their anxiety across contexts to promote their overall courage, confidence, resilience, and well-being.
