Dear Participant,
EMDR is by far my most in demand workshop topic, perhaps due to its strong evidence base for PTSD treatment, and the ease with which it can be integrated into therapists’ existing skill sets. For clinicians working with trauma, learning the resource and exposure skills of EMDR is critical, as they can help clients recover quickly, and many clients will ask for this modality by name.
Participants attending this 2-day intensive training will learn the original 8-phase model of EMDR, including target sequence planning, resourcing, desensitization, installation, and body scanning for both trauma and anxiety treatment. While the “whys” and “hows” of EMDR will be discussed, this training will emphasize learning through demonstrations and hands-on practice, which prepare participants to begin EMDR skills in their practice right away.
Whether you are an experienced EMDR therapist looking to brush up on and add to your skills, or a therapist completely new to EMDR, I am eager to work with you!
Jennifer Sweeton, PsyD, MS, MA
EMDR is a evidence-based intervention that has gained popularity over the past couple of decades, so much so that some clients specifically request it! Part of EMDR’s allure is that research has shown it to quickly and consistently help clients recover from trauma and anxiety. However, mastering EMDR can be daunting, and there is often confusion about how to integrate EMDR, and other memory reconsolidation tools, into therapy work with clients.
At this 2-Day workshop, you’ll learn and practice the EMDR skills and techniques you need to move clients from surviving to thriving, without retraumatization. After this seminar you’ll feel confident helping clients manage overwhelming emotions, and will be able to guide them as they process and reconsolidate traumatic memories and sensations, conquer their fears, and utilize resources that help them feel more in control of their lives.
Additionally, this workshop will help you anticipate and overcome common treatment obstacles, modify EMDR techniques as needed, and understand when and with whom EMDR is likely to be beneficial.
This training is not affiliated with EMDRIA and does not qualify towards EMDRIA credits or training.
